City of Madison GreenPower Program

GreenPower is a program in the City of Madison Engineering Division where trainees with little to no electrical skills are taught how to install solar. In this video, hear from a former trainee about her experience in the program, what she learned and how the program impacted her career for the future in a positive way. The City’s master electrician also explains how the program works, the benefits of being a part of a rapidly growing solar industry and why programs like these push the City of Madison forward and on the cutting-edge of job training programs in the nation. Trainees get classroom training on, but isn’t limited to, basic photovoltaics, how solar systems work, sizing and layout and OSHA safety course for the construction industry. Trainees also get hands-on training while working as part of a crew that installs solar on City buildings. Apply on the City’s website: www.cityofmadison.com/HR/employment/JobOpenings.cfm
